Records have shown that Frost was a farmer, a poet, a rare combination. As a farmer, Frost only spent ten years in the occupation. Frost's works have been perfectly divided into 9 collections or books. There are several great poems found in the list such as Mountain Interval, North of Boston, and New Hampshire. Frost usually displays the life occurring in New England and showcased it via his poems. You will no doubt agree that Frost is well placed as an icon of American literature after reading through his great and timeless works.
I heard Robert Frost at my high school in 1955. It was about 8 years before his death and yet he was as full of life that day as anyone I have ever seen or heard. He didn't embellish his works. I think he read them as he felt when he first wrote that particular poem. He had a specific cadence for each reading and I felt as if I was right there standing in the woods on a snowy evening or in front of two roads that diverged into a yellow wood. My memory of these events and his readings in his book of poetry are organic. I feel as if I am alive in that specific time in American history that he was writing about. He helped me feel the way folks felt long ago. I could better understand the meaning of his poetry by living in the time he wrote them. This book contains in excess of 150 poems. There is plenty of material to assist you in finding your favorite. Whether its a poem about Christmas trees or the death of the hired hand, the topics he writes about are most sanguine and even contemporary in today's time.So snuggle up in your reading chair and face the roar of a winter's fire. Sip on a cup of your favorite tea and let Robert Frost transport your soul into time long past but whose meaning is just as alive today as the noise falling snow makes or the sound of the wind through the evergreens. You owe it to yourself to read from the works of a master..If you expect a review from me based on the works of Robert Frost, in one word let me say "superb." How often are you given this opportunity? Which road will you choose?. It will make a difference.
