This translation is based on the author’s Tao Yuanming: The Compete Works. However the form has been loosened and also a more colloquial English used. The original meaning is still followed quite closely. The book starts off with two of his most famous pieces, “The Biography of Mr. Five Willows” and “Peach Blossom Spring” both of which were very influential during the Tang dynasty. Then his “Living in the Country” (author’s appellation) poems are grouped together, including much of his best known work. There follow a series of “Other Poems” and finally another prose piece.English translation only.
