"Animals are out of this World" is a completely delightful compilation of poems and illustrations that at its heart speak to those who feel they don't seem to quite fit in - 'the voiceless' - are actually an integral part of the fabric we call community. Told from the point of view of animals, planets, young and old, each has a very unique and important purpose. My favorite poem was "The Animal Olympics". Who hasn't wanted to toss in the towel before even starting? Grandpa's wise advice.....'that if you are going to give up, you must pay a price....' is true no matter what our age is.The illustrations are visually beautiful helping to further the narratives of the poems. No doubt we will see some of these incredible artists go on to be future illustrators for many books to come.The fact that 100% of the proceeds is donated to help the homeless youth in our county is a huge benefit. "Verses for the Voiceless" is a non-profit created by high school students using their talents to help the 2.5+ million homeless children in America and help to move children off the streets and into safe environments.
