Dear Reader, I write to you a book of 31 poems on nature, life, death, friendship, studying, hopes, and dreams, but all are tied by this simple, common thread: I saw something beautiful in life that I wished more could see. Poetry is, to me, a way of thinking which pays attention to all that is normally overlooked. It is both an appreciation of, and the skilled passion to present the unnoticed to those who have not, cannot, or do not want to see it. Thus, it is an exercise in noticing subtle beauty and it is a practice in persuading others to notice that beauty, as well. I pray this book stirs in you a desire for better things. It does not and cannot contain those things, but I hope it points you towards them. It is my desire that this poetry convince our hearts to live out what our minds can only agree with; that it give us a glimpse, however briefly or incompletely, of things which are worthy of our love; and that, above all else, it connect us to real people and real problems, with whom and through which we actually act to make our world a better place.
Often, the search for truly intelligent contemporary poetry finds the reader mentally slogging through a quagmire of depressive, uninspired or incoherent drivel. In contrast, this author's insights and lyrical whimsy offer enrichment to the reader's mind and soul. This is a truly delightful book for those who enjoy complex thoughts , inspiring perspectives and rich wordplay.I would love to find more like this.
