It's shame that poets like Mark Irwin aren't more widely recognized. Rather than the stale old sonnets and relatively inaccessible poetry that students are made to endure in high school and early on in college, this is the type of material they should be reading. I find it hard to believe that anyone who enjoys reading on almost any level wouldn't enjoy this book and go back to it over and over again. I'm only a casual reader of poetry but this book will absolutely move you. If it doesn't, you're dead inside.
