We were perplexed that these units arrived in the pre-weathered steel finish. But after messaging the seller, he quickly responded advising that these benches do weather rather fasty by using vinegar or muriatic acid. Their expedient reply saved a return. These are good quality bench / planters. We simply brushed on a 50/50 solution of the muriatic acid and water and let them dry (drying in the shade is best). Then sprayed them down with the garden hose and within a couple of hours, the planters were a wonderful patina and rust corten finish. They actually achieved the look of being weathered for years in just a couple of hours. We love these planters now.
